How to Conditionally Shutdown Your Computer

Shutdown7 is a freeware application that allows you to shutdown your computer based on some predefined condition. The condition could be triggered at a specific time, on closing of an application, file deletion, music playback, or after a specific period of user inactivity.

In addition to shutdown, you can choose to hibernate, restart, log off, standby or lock your computer. You can also make the program open a file or run an application when the chosen criteria is met.

Shutdown7 features a compact, but feature-rich user interface that lets you start a counter in three quick steps:

  1. Choose an action you want to perform from the dropdown menu
  2. Choose the condition trigger
  3. Hit Go!

Furthermore, the program allows you to control your computer on the move. It allows remote access via browser or the native Android application. You can find more information on these features on the download page.

Automatically Wake Up Your Computer

Want your computer to wake up with you or wake up in the middle of the night to do routine tasks? That can also be done by downloading and adding a free utility called WakeupOnStandBy. You can get it by going to Settings > WOSB > Download.

Once downloaded, extract the zip file and drop the “wosb.exe” file into the Shutdown7 directory. On restart of the program, you will find two new options – “Schedule wake up” and “Schedule wake up (ini)” – in the dropdown.

Using that you can schedule a wake up call. You could, for example, have your computer come out of standby every morning and open your favorite web sites, play music, or wake up every night and unpack your most recent downloads before going back to sleep.

Shutdown7 is available as an installer and as a portable application. It’s compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP and newer.
