Selectively Run Programs without UAC Prompt on Windows 7 & 8

Do you have a program or script that always has to be run as an administrator and you want a shortcut for it that doesn’t bring up User Account Control (UAC)? Then have a look at ElevatedShortcut:

ElevatedShortcut is a portable program that will allow you to selectively create elevated shortcut for programs that you want to run as an administrator. When you run the program via the shortcut, you won’t get the annoying UAC prompt.

ElevatedShortcut doesn’t disable UAC. It works by using Task Scheduler so that you are not prompted for permission when you start a program while still having UAC turned on. So you remain protected, and only those programs which you trust to be safe are run with elevated permission.

To get started, launch the program and click on the New Shortcut button.

Then browse and select the program for which you want to create the elevated shortcut, and enter a folder to save the shortcut at. If needed, you can also enter command line arguments to the shortcut from the same dialog.

That’s all to it. Now If you double-click on the newly created shortcut you will find that you’re no longer asked for a confirmation to run the program.

Since ElevatedShortcut makes use of Windows Task Scheduler, the shortcuts continue to work even if you delete the program after creating a shortcut.

To modify a shorcut, again launch the program and click on Modify shortcut button. And to delete the elevated shortcut, choose the third option – Remove shortcut – from the program.

If you find yourself often with the need of creating elevated shortcuts, click on the Settings option in the program and you’ll be able to add a context menu option to assist you with the task.

ElevatedShortcut supports both Windows 7 and Windows 8, and you can get the program at the following link:
