If you work with a lot of tabs open in the browser and if you’re a keyboard person, then you might have had the desire to move and rearrange tabs at different positions using hotkeys. Unfortunately, Chrome (Windows & Mac) and Firefox do not have such a feature built-in, so here are two extensions that will add this functionality for you:
Keyboard Shortcuts to Reorder Tabs for Chrome
Install it from the Chrome Web Store, and you’re good to go! It doesn’t have a configuration page or icon, so it works completely invisible just like if it’s a native feature.
List of available shortcuts:
- Ctrl + Shift + Page Up: Move active tab left
- Ctrl + Shift + Page Down: Move active tab right
- Ctrl + Shift + 1: Move active tab to first position
- Ctrl + Shift + 9: Move active tab to last position
- Ctrl + Shift + 2…8: Move active tab to nth position
MoveTabs for Firefox
Default MoveTabs Shortcuts:
- Ctrl + Shift + Page Up: Move active tab left
- Ctrl + Shift + Page Down: Move active tab right
- Ctrl + Shift + Home: Move active tab to first position
- Ctrl + Shift + End: Move active tab to last position
Both these extensions will help you save a good amount of time in your computing hours.
