Easily Save and Restore Ubuntu Panels

Posted on March 15, 2011 by Renji | Short URL: http://sumtips.com/?p=3752

PanelRestore is a small program that allows you to easily save and restore custom panel configurations in Ubuntu. It can also be used to restore panels to the default Gnome layout.

PanelRestore

After extracting the downloaded file, you will get a PanelRestore.sh shell script file. On double clicking it, you will be presented with the main PanelRestore dialog box.

The first option in the application, Save Panel Settings, is to save your customized panel settings. Settings are saved in a .xml file.

To restore your previously saved settings, open PanelRestore and select Restore Panel Settings option and navigate to the saved .xml file.

The last option, Restore Default Panel Settings, restores the top and bottom panels to the state when you first installed Ubuntu.
