Show or Hide Files, File Extensions using Keyboard Shortcuts

Windows by default doesn’t show hidden folders, files, and extension of files which have an associated program installed on the system. It does allow users to change these settings from the Folder Options dialog, but for this they are forced to go through a sequence of steps every time. If you are looking for a better and quicker way to perform these changes, check out HiFiTo right now.

HiFiTo Tray Menu

HiFiTo is a small, portable utility that lets Windows users quickly toggle hidden (and system) files, folders, and known file extensions visibility setting in Explorer by simply pressing a combination of keyboard keys.

On start, the program immediately goes into the system tray and waits for a user command. By default, Ctrl + Alt + H is used for toggling “Show Hidden Files” setting, while Ctrl + Alt + E is assigned for toggling “Hide extensions for known file types” option. To change these hotkeys, right-click on the tray icon and choose Setup. That’s about the only setting option the program comes with.

Apart from the hotkeys, both the settings can also be changed by right-clicking on the tray icon and selecting an option from the menu. Doing either, the changes are activated in real time.

HiFiTo is an open source program, and it works on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP and later editions. You can download it from the following link:
