Yahoo! has added SMS capabilities to Yahoo! Mobile Web Messenger.
This feature gives users the ability to send text messages in addition to the usual instant messages and emoticons. To access Yahoo Mobile Web Messenger, enter m.yahoo.com/messenger in your mobile browser.
Both smartphone and regular phone users can use this feature but you need to have a data plan connection.
Recent updates made to Mobile Web Messenger:
- Send SMS for free to your IM friends or to any mobile numbers.
- Enhanced Searchbox allows you to look up contacts by their usernames or phone numbers in your Yahoo! Address book and IM contact list.
- Easy toggle between SMS and IM conversations.
The SMS feature is available in these countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Indonesia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, United States and Vietnam.
