Completely Uninstall Samsung Kies Software

Posted on November 22, 2010 by Renji | Short URL: http://sumtips.com/?p=1913

Samsung Kies is a software suite that makes it easier for you to synchronize data, find new apps, take backups, upgrade firmware and more for your Samsung phone by connecting it to your PC.

Now, if you are having any trouble while uninstalling the software for reinstalling a new version or if you just want to remove it from your PC then here’s a solution offered by Samsung itself.

Samsung has released a small uninstall utility for Kies. With this utility you will be able to completely remove/uninstall Kies from your Windows PC. Simply download it from the link below, extract and run the “UninstallKies.exe” file. After completing the uninstall process, you will get a “Done” message. That’s it!

Update: Samsung has deleted UninstallKies from its server, fortunately I had a copy saved.

Alternate download: UninstallKies.zip

I haven’t tested the uninstaller with latest Kies version, however, it should work perfectly with old ones.
Also, check out this comment thread below for other solutions. Got positive feedback on it.

I downloaded the file (approx 87k); I clicked to open; immediately received a “done” message, but nothing has happened. Did I not unzip it? If so, how do I do that?

The download is a compressed zip file. You can extract the zip file using winzip, winrar or even the OS’s unzip feature. The extracted “UninstallKies.exe” is a 186kb app. If the file is broken, try downloading it again.

        Hi Renji;

Thanks for your reply, but I still have the problem. I used the OS unzip feature to extract the file, and yes, I did have an 186kb app. When I opened that, even as an Administrator, I saw a quick black screen and a message saying “Done”, but Kies is still in my computer. I tried downloading the file a second time, with the same result. Any ideas? Thanks.

          Hi Larry,

          Try this out:
          1. Uninstall Kies using the standard uninstaller.
          2. Run “UninstallKies.exe”
          3. Then run “CleanUpKies.exe”
          4. Restart computer.

Do tell me if it works.

            Hi Renji;

Doesn’t appear to have worked at all. Did the standard uninstall; received the expected error messages; ran the 2 zip files; each time a quick black screen opened and closed; restarted computer; left with Kies remnant. Cannot open Kies or further uninstall. Any other ideas……PLEASE?

            Larry

Try any uninstaller software like revo. Do a search on Google for any other uninstaller. If that doesn’t work, the only other solution I can suggest you from here is to install Kies again and then to try uninstalling it by following the above steps.

Great advice! I just used Revo for the same problem and It worked!!!! Thank you very much, Renji.

    Dear Friends,

I had uninstalled Samsung Kies but afterwards I always used to get the message ‘Kies has stopped working’ when ever I started my laptop.

I have tried the following on my Sony Vaio Laptop and successfully removed Samsung Kies completly.

    • Click Start –> run
    • Type in “regedit”, and then click ENTER to open Windows Registry Editor.
    • Find out the below registry keys in the editor.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung Kies
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Samsung Kies
    (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\eg ui)
    • Delete those registry keys by right clicking on them and select “delete”.
    • Go to Start > Control penal > Folder > Select Show Hidden Files and Folders
    • Locate and delete the following folders manually if found:
    (C:\Program Files\Samsung Kies)
    (C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Samsung Kies)
    (C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%\Application Data\Samsung Kies)

Please back up your registry if your computer is too vulnerable.

Hope you will find this information useful.
