Google just announced that users will soon be able to opt out of ‘conversation view‘, one of the features that makes it most different from others email services.
Ever since Gmail took off, related messages were lumped into a single conversation or thread. Conversation view allowed users to browse through an entire email thread without having to open multiple emails. There was no way to order these emails chronologically in the manner of Microsoft Outlook or other online e-mail services.
Some liked it this way, while some did not. Whatever your choice might be, you can view mails the way you like it from today.
To change your settings, go to the Settings menu, and then find “Conversation view.” Here you’ll be able to toggle off conversation view to see email as individual messages in chronological order.
If you can’t find it, just wait. Google will be rolling out this option to users over the next few days.
