The Times of India suprised me once again this month. Nothing extraordinary today like the talking newspaper we saw some days back but I was still surprised to see a full page Google Chrome ad in today’s paper.
I am used to seeing Ads from Microsoft and Yahoo but it’s the first time Google came out with an advertisment like this.
Probably all Indians know about Google and Google Chrome too but still for many Internet Explorer is the default browser. This advertisement is aimed exactly at those IE users.
The impact of a full back page advertisement in Times of India is probably more than millions of those online Chrome Ads. I am sure that after seeing this advertisement many users will now actually go and download Chrome.
This advertisement also goes to show that, unlike west, Print media still rules in India. Online penetration is still quite low, and if you need to get attention – print media is your answer.
