You might be backing up your documents and files regularly but its as important to backup your browser preferences, passwords and bookmarks. Extensions are available in Firefox to automate this process but its not yet available in Chrome atleast for the stable version.
If you want to just back up your preferences in Google Chrome, it isn’t a difficult task. You just need to copy the preferences file and store it as a backup somewhere else.
You can find it here:
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default.
Windows Vista: %localappdata%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
But the above step doesn’t backup your bookmarks and passwords. You could do that individually too but there is a software known as Google Chrome Backup which automates the entire profile backup process for you.
Using this tool, you can backup and restore profiles, create multiple profiles, delete a profile and much more. It has a nice and simple user interface and is quite easy to use. All your preferences, bookmarks, passwords etc can be backed up at one go using this tool.
Google Chrome Backup is available for both the stable and the newer versions of the browser.
