Directly Save YouTube Videos to your Dropbox Account with Videodropper

Posted on October 18, 2011 by Renji | Short URL: http://sumtips.com/?p=5253

Videodropper is a new web service that can download and automatically send your favorite YouTube videos to your Dropbox account. An easy way to create a library of your favorite clips in the cloud or to save some videos for later viewing.

I had discovered Videodropper about a week ago but it had several problems then. Today I checked it again and saw a completely redesigned interface, a new video optimization option and more importantly a properly working service.

Videodropper

To start using Videodropper, simply visit its homepage and grant it access to your Dropbox account. Once done, provide Videodropper with the URL of your YouTube video and hit “Send to Dropbox” button to start the download process. Your video is now added to the site’s download queue. When downloaded, it will be uploaded to your Dropbox account and finally synced to your computer for offline viewing.

By default, the service downloads video in the highest available quality. If you don’t want the original HD (if available) video, you can check the “Optimize for iPhone/iPod Touch(Beta)” box. The resultant video is smaller in size and is converted to MP4 format.

Videodropper is still in beta but it works very well now. Hit the link to try it.
