Subscribe to Google Plus User’s RSS Feed

Posted on July 13, 2011 by Renji | Short URL: http://sumtips.com/?p=4303

A while back I had written about an app called GTweet, that allows users to subscribe and read twitter tweets in a feed reader. Similarly if you want to follow updates from a specific Google+ user in your feed reader, it’s not possible because RSS feeds are not yet officially supported by Google Plus.

No worries though. There’s a new service called Google Plus Feed available that turns a user’s stream into an RSS feed. Just like the above mentioned GTweet, this service is also hosted on Appspot.

Update 1:
PlusFeed is no longer functional. However, if you’d like to run your own instance of this app, get the source code from GitHub.
Update 2:
There’s a new instance of this app available now. It can be found at :
Update 3:
plusfeed2 is also offline now, but here are two more free services: Plu.sr: http://plu.sr/ and GPlusRSS http://gplusrss.com/

Its pretty easy to create an RSS feed for a Google+ user. All you require is the user’s profile ID. You can get that by visiting their profile, or by right-clicking on the user name in your stream and copying their profile link.

Below you can see a regular Google+ Profile URL. A user’s ID is the long string of numbers that you see after https:/plus.google.com/. I have underlined the ID in the screenshot. Copy those numbers.

Now that you have the ID, add it at the end of the following URL: .

That is your RSS feed URL. You can now add it your favorite feed reader and subscribe to the user’s updates.

Repeat the same steps to subscribe to other Google+ users.

Plus feed website doesn’t have an interface or any customization options. All you need to remember is the URL. Until Google adds native support for RSS, this is a handy app.

When I try to create my feed it simply says … “400 – No Public Items Found”. This means how should turn my Google+ profile public !? How do I do this !?

When you post an update, make sure it is posted as “Public.” It shouldn’t be within some selected circle or extended circle.

When I try to create my feed it keeps saying this … “Feed for 112434029925084290076 not yet ready to serve. Please check again in a few minutes.” How could it be not ready to serve, and what can I do to make it serve?

You are getting the error because your profile is no longer on Google+. I guess Google has disabled or deleted it because of your user name.

I am now getting the message “The requested URL … was not found on this server.” Please confirm if you get the same message and whether this means that the service is no longer running.

            Please and Thanks,

            Greg

Yes, you are right. That service has gone as well.

As before, will update this post if I find another working alternative.

This service (plusfeed) is not longer running because of the cost. Do you know a similar service to extract the posts from google plus but all of them at once? I mean, all the ones I’m subscribed. Thanks.

Thanks for the update on Plus Feed, Pablo. At the moment I don’t know any such service, but if I find any, will let you know. :)

If you don’t want to link your Google+ or don’t have a Google+ account, those solutions don’t work.

I created this site to get an RSS feed because I was simply frustrated with this problem

I hope it helps other people as well.
